Ernst von Seckendorff-Verna machte den Bau der St. Georgs Kirche in der Königstädter Straße 1902 möglich. Bereits 1889 liess er eine Kapelle im Verna Park errichten. Doch durch die Industrialisierung, wuchs der katholische Anteil unter den Rüsselsheimern und es musste Platz geschaffen werden. In der Anlehnung an die erste katholische Pfarrkirche wurde die Gerogs Schutzherrschaft wieder aufgenimmen.
Es  entstand ein kleiner Kirchbau im gotisierenden Stil. 1928 wurde der Glockenturm angebaut und die Kirche wurde um das Seitenschiff erweitert. Interessant ist auch das Triptychon neben dem Hauptaltar: Es zeigt die Heilige Familie, den „Arbeiterbischof“ Wilhelm Emanuel Ketteler der das berühmte Buch mit  Arbeiterpredigten hochhält, sowie den Gesellenvater Adolf Kolping.

Sowohl 1937 als auch 1972 wurde die Kirche renoviert. Die Kirche St. Georg gehört mit der St. Christophorus Kirche und der St. Michael Kirche zur Pfarrei Heilige Familie
